The critical operating characteristic and the evaluation of expert judgment

Article Abstract:

Expert judgment can be evaluated using the dual-Gaussian signal detection model which defines and distinguishes between expert accuracy and performance. The consumer or the person who makes decisions based on the judgment of the expert needs data on the expert and the event to be able to reach the best decision. Base rate information and decision criteria both affect performance of experts but not their accuracy. These concepts could useful to consumers in evaluating the performance of experts.

Effects of initial tendency and real risk on choice shift

Article Abstract:

Studies in risk taking and decision making were undertaken to determine individual and group processes involved in choice selections. Group discussions can alter the choices of an individual's perception and acceptance of risk taking. The level of difficulty of the risk to be undertaken also influences group and later individual choices. The study concludes that additional research should be conducted on individual decision making which occurs prior any influence induced group discussion.

Choice-based assessment of utility functions

Article Abstract:

A choice-based approach to dominant prescriptive theory and expected utility theory, and for generalized utility theory and lottery dependent expected utility theory (LDEU) is analyzed. Results show that the predictive performance of expected utility and LDEU models is enhanced when choice date are used. Choice based assessment as a potention alternative method for utility function measurement of decision making was indicated.
