The development of the use of long-term knowledge to assist short-term recall

Article Abstract:

This study measures the effects of developing the phonological familiarity of nonwords on the facilitation of short-term recall. The familiarity effect on word recall was found to increase with age. No effects were shown in five-year olds, yet significant effects were found in older children and adults.

The TECO theory and lawful dependency in successive episodic memory tests

Article Abstract:

Measures of dependency between episodic memory tests are used to determine if the test items are utilizing the same memory processes. TECO, a connectionist theory of memory, is used to develop a stochastic method to interpret moderate dependencies between successive measures of recognition and recall.

Working memory, metacognitive uncertainty, and belief bias in syllogistic reasoning

Article Abstract:

A mental models-based account of belief bias is presented, in which limitations on working memory play a key role. A series of experiments investigate belief bias in syllogistic reasoning in relation to working memory and metacognitive uncertainty.
