The influence of endowments asymmetry and information level on the contribution to a public step good

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the effects of asymmetry of endowments and information level on the contribution to a public step good. Results were compatible with equity theory showing that subjects informed about the asymmetry prefer High Endowment members to give more than Low Endowment members. It was further shown that subjects informed about the asymmetry choose a proportional distribution of the contributions while uninformed subjects preferred equal distribution of the contributions.

Adaptation level and 'animal spirits.' (unemployment levels)

Article Abstract:

An adaptation-level approach is taken to the level of economic uncertainty and measured by the psychologically sensitive unemployment series. Adaptation level effects are found to be pervasive in human behavior. 'Low' unemployment levels relative to the adaptation level are found to promote confidence, termed as high 'animal spirits,' while the converse applies for 'high' unemployment rates.
