The supervision of psychological assessment: toward parsimony and empirical evidence for developmental supervision theory

Article Abstract:

An 8-stage model was proposed for psychology trainee skill and knowledge development. The model indicates learning goals and emphasized trainee reactions towards assessment supervision. The model is expected to develop in trainees psychological assessment knowledge and experience and confidence to perform these without supervision. The conceptualizations featured in the proposed model, however, have already been identified and demonstrated in the integrated developmental model, a comprehensive developmental clinical supervision model.

Do as I do, not as I say: a behaviour-analytic approach to supervision

Article Abstract:

An innovative method for training behaviour therapists employing a behaviour-analytic therapeutic system will be effective to many therapeutic schools. It is because what the feedback is on depends on the supervisor. The new methodology hinges on learning principles and is devised to surmount some of the difficulties faced while trying to teach therapy by means of direct instruction. A benefit of this methodology is that the therapists have to be present to what is happening in the moment between clients and themselves.

Distinguishing the supervision needs of assessment and therapy trainees

Article Abstract:

A proposed model for the supervision of psychological assessment was likened to the integrated developmental model (IDM) for counselor development. Both models provide comprehensive representation of counselor development but, unlike IDM, the proposed model considers psychological assessment skill training. A critique on the proposed method emphasizing administration and scoring errors also failed to indicate that even veteran assessors make such mistakes.
