The use of structural equation modeling in assessing the quality of marital observations

Article Abstract:

The paper evaluates the utility and reliability of observational methodologies including internal consistencies, interrater reliability and validity within a multiformat framework for analyzing marital interactions. In the two year research, observations were obtained for 412 married couples. A structural equation model was used to evaluate the psychometric properties of observational ratings and family member reports. The results validate the utility of this approach.
