Two-year prospective study of personality disorders in adults with longstanding eating disorders

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted with an aim to report the presence of personality disorders (PDs) in adults with longstanding eating disorders (EDs), to compare the frequency of PDs in anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), and to investigate whether recovered patients had lower frequency of PDs. At 2-year follow-up, there were substantial reductions in the frequency of PDs in patients with long-lasting EDs.

Do eating disorders co-occur with personality disorders? Comparison groups matter

Article Abstract:

This article examines if there is a link between eating disorders and personality disorders. The authors, comparing eating disorders with four Axis II personality disorder and major depressive disorder, conclude that eating disorder diagnosis did not co-occur with common Axis I and II disorders or major depressive disorder.

The relationship among binge severity, personality psychopathology, and body mass index

Article Abstract:

This article examines whether personality psychopathology and body mass index are related to the severity of binge eating disorder. The authors, assessing 50 individuals with binge eating disorder, conclude body mass index and personality disorder symptomatology is significantly related to binge eating severity.
