Validities and abilities in criminal profiling: A critique of the studies conducted by Richard Kocsis and his colleagues

Article Abstract:

A research by Kocsis and his colleagues examines the correlates of profile accuracy with respect to the skills of the individual constructing the profile. Evidence is presented in support of their assertions and recommendations are provided to allow future research in the area to generate data that are more meaningful and generalizable.

Visual versus narrative case material: the impact on criminal psychological profiling

Article Abstract:

The article examines the effects of case material on profiling proficiency based on the case material available to participants in a profiling exercise. The study showed that profiling proficiency is influenced by the amount of case material available, with maximum proficiency achieved by the presence of all forms of material.

Believing is seeing? Investigating the perceived accuracy of criminal psychological profiles

Article Abstract:

The perceptions of criminal psychological profiles that are influenced by the identity of the profile's author are investigated. If these influences are removed, then profiling will progress immeasurably towards being a reliable science.
