Validity and reliability of the revised Neuropsychological Impairment Scale (NIS)

Article Abstract:

A study compared results from the Neuropsychological Impairment Scale (NIS) with those of other neuropsychological tests to determine the validity of the NIS and its test-retest constancy. Results indicate a significant correlation between results from the NIS and the control tests, especially with tests that are good measures of cognitive impairment. Stability over time indicates that NIS measures permanent attributes rather than temporary conditions.

Support for abbreviation of the Wide Range Achievement Test-Revised Spelling Subtest in neuropsychological assessments

Article Abstract:

The revised Wide Range Achievement Test provides useful neuropsychological information but takes a lot of time. Data from the split-half and split-third tabulations tabulations used with forensic and psychiatric subjects reveals significant correlations between the split-halves and between split-half and full administration scores. A truncated Spelling subtest may be time-saving without loss of reliability for clinical settings.
