Choices from identical options

Article Abstract:

A study of selective behavior in people for various scenarios including item or route selection respectively from various identical items and routes reveals that a substantial number of people display an uncanny manner of choice behavior in cases, wherein objective basis for making a choice is absent. For the item selection scenario people chose from the middle of an array of items, while for the route selection scenario people chose end routes.

Violations of branch independence in judgments of the value of gambles

Article Abstract:

Research on the violations of branch independence in judgments of the value of gambles is presented. Being a weak principle, branch independence requires that judgments of gambles with a common outcome must not reverse order when it is changed. Furthermore, results show that violations change systematically between viewpoints and is consistent with the theory that viewpoint influences configural weighting and not utility function.
