1997 directory of type foundries

Article Abstract:

The 1997 type directory describes 90 foundries providing fonts ranging from ancient Sanskrit to Mister Frisky. The industry remains concerned about font piracy and protection, and the TypeRight Internet-based organization for font designers at www.typeright.org is attempting to ensure that designer copyrights are honored. The listing for each foundry includes the phone number, Web site, years in operation, number of fonts offered, formats supported, delivery media, and list prices. Also provided are descriptions of each foundry's offerings, and samples of several are included. Among the foundries listed are Adobe Systems, Bitstream, Castle Systems, Deniart Systems, E Fonts, the Font Bureau, Image Club Graphics, Keystrokes, Linotype Library, Linguist's Software, MindCandy, Page Studio Graphics, the Scriptorium, and Stone Type Foundry.
