Article Abstract:

Doug Bergman, a truck mechanic has taken part in the Minneapolis Heart Institute's ACT-34-CMI, a clinical trial designed to test whether injection of autologous CD34++ cells directly into the myocardium would reduce the number of anginal episodes suffered by the patients with refractory chronic myocardial ischemia. He has a strong family history of heart disease and he is not able to work in years as his chest pain keeps him away from doing any small work in his house.
