The $2,995 Jetscript controller board and software, from Laser Connection, is recommended for users who depend on a PC-powered HP Laserjet Series II and who want to upgrade to PostScript. Jetscript offers a PostScript interpreter, which is licensed from Adobe Systems, and there are the same 35 fonts that come standard with most PostScript laser printers. Output is almost the same as that produced by the Laserwriter IINTX. Jetscript's speed is adequate.

Texas Instruments's $7,995 Omnilaser 2115 laser printer, a PostScript printer, claims a 15-page-per-minute rating, but speed trials did not confirm this. Print quality is superior. Blacks are dark and consistent; text characters are clean. But scanned graphics are sometimes too dark, and there is no density control. The Omnilaser's duty cycle is 25,000 pages a month.
