Independent journalists continue to work and fight for speech in Cuba in spite of increased government repression. On October 3, 2003 in a daring challenge to the government's repression that imprisoned 42 members of his organization, Oswaldo Paya Sardinas, opposition leader and president of the Movimiento Cristiano Liberacion delivered 14,384 signatures to the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuba's Parliament) in Havana.

Article Abstract:

Journalists on both sides of the Atlantic have raised concerns about the motives behind the expulsion of French and British journalists at Los Angeles International Airport. The journalists were going to Los Angeles to cover the ninth edition of the Electronic Expo, the video game industry's major annual trade show and were arrested because they did not had proper visas with them.

Media ignore Indonesia and its lonely war

The Indonesian government placed onerous restrictions on all journalists wishing to cover the conflict and before traveling to Aceh foreign journalists should secure written permission from both the Foreign Ministry and the Justice Department. The information blockade comes during unprecedented press freedom in Indonesia.
