The teaching career of painter, sculptor and industrial designer Randall Wilson is presented. Particular emphasis is given to Wilson's teaching skills and methodology, as well as to the inspiration for the subjects of his work. Biographical information is added to stress the influence which people and education have had on Wilson's artistic profile.

Film noir is my bete noire: it's getting dark and gloomy around here, I'm about to zone out

Article Abstract:

In the 1990s, the French word 'noir' began to show up increasingly in citations for films and books, and even in their dialogues. This ubiquitous term for black now means a gloomy fatalism. The term 'zoned out' was used as an apology by an inattentive Senate witness. Its roots are discussed.
