Understanding the fundamentals of Islam

Article Abstract:

Most non-Muslim Americans understand very little about the nature of worship in Islam. The most important characteristic, which is similar to Christianity, is the belief that one must submit to the will of God. Muslims differ from Christianity in believing that God revealed Himself to Mohammed, who was completely mortal, in the seventh century for the purpose of correcting mistakes in Judeo-Christian teaching. The 'Five Pillars' of Islam set forth the basic rites for followers of the faith.
