A suitable case for treatment

Article Abstract:

Some 20 local groups have joined together to try to find ways to resolve the fall in demand for offices located in the centre of Middlesbrough, England. Many of the offices are vacant because they lack adequate car parks and are of an outdated design. Some local agents suggest that the offices should be knocked down rather than undergo refurbishment. Business developments on the out skirts of the town have benefitted from companies looking for new office buildings away from the town centre. Retail trade has also been badly affected by the exodus of companies from the centre of Middlesbrough.

Planted out for profit

Article Abstract:

Landscaping is becoming an increasingly important consideration for UK developers of business parks seeking to make their project acceptable to local people. It can be relatively inexpensive to include landscaping in a business park design, and the benefits can be considerable. Landscaping also plays a key role in attracting potential occupiers to a business park development and ensuring that occupiers remain at the site. Security has become an important element in landscape design, especially at high-tech business parks.

A good buy

Article Abstract:

The retail property market in Hemel Hempstead, England, is quite strong, with only a few units remaining available. The most significant deal recently has been the purchase by German fund Despa of The Marlowes shopping centre for 56 million pounds sterling. There is also strong demand for retail warehousing. However, the industrial and office property markets are still more important to the local economy than retail property.
