A tale of two ports

Article Abstract:

The British port of Dover and its French rival Calais are competing to attract new development and investment. The ports are essentially different, with Dover's surrounding area already being developed while much land around Calais remains untouched. Stringent planning laws in France require developers to be more socially responsible, thereby increasing costs and making many projects unviable. Property development in Dover is focused on retail and leisure, attracted by the 16 million tourists that pass through the port every year.

Down the road to better prospects

Article Abstract:

The property sector in Bradford, England, has seen mixed developments recently. There is a lack of available industrial space around junction 26 of the M62, especially in buildings larger than 6,503 sq mt. Developers are now looking at other sites, but the situation is being complicated by plans for an A1/M1 link road. This road could bring benefits to the office sector, epecially Dearne Valley Enterprise Zones. In the retail sector, the main development is the regeneration of the former Forster Square station site.

Following through

Article Abstract:

The leisure property market in the East Anglia region of England is now seeing a return of confidence, which had been hit by the recession in the late 1980s. The increased investor interest is being driven largely by new entrants to the leisure market, many of which have the benefit of local knowledge of the market. The renewed interest in the leisure market has also boosted Norwich's chances of getting a long-awaited multiplex cinema, although there are still several potential sites to consider.
