Five bag IDRC's coveted Best Practices

Article Abstract:

The International Development Research Council presented five Best practice Awards at the Tennessee World Congress to Capital One Financial's corporate real estate (CRE) arm, which had aligned with Jones Lang LaSalle for strategy. For decision support, the award went to the Portfolio Management Office, Public Building Services, of the U.S. General Services Administration. Other winners are: Whirlpool Corp., United Healthcare-MetraHealth Corp., in association with Trammell Crow Outsourcing, Steelcase's Furniture Management Coalition, and RSP Architects; and AT and T Global Real Estate.

AOL's balancing act: the need for nearness vs. 'virtual space.' (America Online)

Article Abstract:

America Online's (AOL) relocation to its new 90-acre headquarters campus in Dulles, VA, has served as the key factor in helping the company rebound from its problems in 1996. In its new headquarters, the company appears to have found a place that best supports AOL's core concentration, cyberspace. In 1996, the company's limited facility was unable to cope with the increase in customer usage.
