All clear ahead at the Crossways

Article Abstract:

The office market in north-west Kent has begun to revive slightly recently, but the main demand is still for small suites. The dominant development in the area is Blue Circle Properties' Crossways mixed-used business park, which is made up of 2 million sq ft of industrial space, 900,000 sq ft of office space and 30,000 sq ft of retail space. This has attracted a considerable number of occupiers already, particularly because of the suitability of Kent as a location from which to do business in Europe.

Cheap or obsolete?

Article Abstract:

There is a very large amount of second hand office accommodation standing empty in the UK at present. This has led some observers to comment on issues including whether some buildings are unlettable and whether a revival in the property market will resolve the problem. In some cases, second hand offices can be converted into residential accommodation, and it is also possible to undertake varying degrees of refurbishment.

Building security is a design issue

Article Abstract:

The security of office buildings is becoming a very serious issue, especially for computer and electronics companies. Managers are responding by making staff much more aware of security issues, and the physical security of office buildings, especially doors and windows, is also being improved. Latest office designs have built-in security features, and CCTV is being widely installed.
