All pull together

Article Abstract:

Grosvenor Estate Holdings has placed strong emphasis on a partnering approach for many years. The company believes that partnering can eliminate conflicts arising from the traditional tendering process. Partnering involves fostering a positive relationship between the developer and the main contractor. The contractor is brought in early and plays an important role in discussions about design and construction. Grosvenor uses non-binding partnering agreements, and secures cooperation from its partners on the basis of its reputation and the prospect of future contracts.

Time to demand consistency

Article Abstract:

There are significant differences between local authorities in the UK in how planning regulations are applied. In some cases, there can even be conflict within individual local authorities about applying planning regulations. These inconsistencies are causing serious problems for the property development industry, which needs stability if sustainable and innovative development is to be achieved. They are also serving to give development a negative image in the minds of ordinary people, when development is in fact a positive thing.
