Capitalizing on relocation opportunities: the time is now

Article Abstract:

America has entered the sixth phase of its extended re-industrialization characterized by improved manufacturing technologies and a big inventory of idle facilities. Manufacturers should capitalize on the existence of idle facilities by relocating. Relocation may be a complex process and is risky but rewards are great to the enterprising. The benefits include greater employee productivity, enhanced labor relations, improved competitiveness, better customer relations and diminished occupancy expenses.

Cost of living: a key quality-of-life issue in site selection

Article Abstract:

Cost of living analyses should be conducted by companies in site selection. Quality of life in the work environment, of which cost of living is an active component, is a primary consideration for employees. In order to conserve time and effort in considering various sites, corporate real estate managers may define their cost of living requirements and then eliminate sites which do not meet these requirements. This should narrow the field of choice considerably and thus facilitate site selection.
