Clean-up Acts

Article Abstract:

Environmental pollution tends to result from accidents at small factories or processing plants. Manufacturing processes may also result in a certain quantity of pollution being released. The environmental health department is the main agency dealing with pollution in the UK and it can bring charges against companies for polluting activities. Private prosecutions may also be brought by the public if a breach of statutory duty can be proved. The European Environment Agency governs international pollution legislation.

Tax treaty implications of non-recourse sales of credit

Article Abstract:

It is important to use the most beneficial tax treaty when dealing with cross-border sales of credit. Advantages can be obtained when more than two companies are involved, as long as all are resident in different countries. This is known as a triangular transaction, and involves appling treaty taxation law to the company which is making the purchase. Bilateral cross-border transactions need to assess which treaty income needs to be assessed with relation to each company.

Exchange of information

Article Abstract:

Information regarding Netherland business taxation is allowed to be transferred under taxation laws laid down within treaties drawn up with other countries. Domestic law provides protection for taxpayers within the Netherlands, although not all forms of information are passed on to each individual which may lead to difficulties if legal proceedings were to be taken.
