For love, not money

Article Abstract:

Being directly involved in negotiating with clients from an early stage has been very exciting, according to Simon Tyrrell, a graduate recruit at Healey & Baker. He feels that surveyors do not attract the same respect as other professionals. Jenny Henderson, assistant land agent at Carter Jonas, enjoys her job because of its variety. She hopes to gain some clients of her own. Mark Wilkinson, graduate recruit at Knight Frank, believes that job satisfaction is more important than money, but feels that graduate surveyors are not adequately remunerated.

CA stands firm in RICS row

Article Abstract:

The UK Consumers' Association (CA) has become involved in a dispute with the UK chartered surveyors' body, the RICS, over standards of surveying. The CA argues that the RICS does not provide enough protection for homeowners from surveyors who do not do their job properly. The RICS argues that such allegations are untrue and the CA is being sensationalist, while homeowners often create problems by refusing to have carpets removed so property can be inspected.
