Hammerson pays cost of Bishopsgate refurb

Article Abstract:

Investing in the rebuilding of 99 Bishopsgate in the City of London has had a negative impact on the financial performance of Hammerson, which saw pre-tax profits fall by more than 9% to 32.1 million pounds in the six months to Jun 1996. However, it believes that there is growing demand for prime office space in the City of London, with top floors at Bishopsgate being let for 484 pounds sterling per sq mt. Acquisitions and higher retail rents have led to an overall rise in net rental income.

Conrad Ritblat Sinclair Goldsmith (CRSG) should benefit in the long term from reorganization, argues John Ritblat, chairman. The company reported a 10.5% rise in profit for the half year to Nov 1994. CRSG is a UK real estate agent which should benefit from a trough having been reached in UK fee reductions. CRSG acquired Oliver Kitchen and Flynn, a specialist in licensed real estate based in Leeds, England, in late 1994. The company is seeking tenants for office space in London, England.
