The 2002 Commonwealth Games will have a very significant impact on Manchester, England. In commercial terms, the benefits of this event will outweigh any negative effects. It is believed that the cost of staging the 2002 Commonwealth Games will be 208 million pounds sterling, of which almost three-quarters has been raised. So far, 100 million pounds sterling has been invested in the Sportcity site next to the Manchester Stadium. Munificent motorway

Article Abstract:

The future of the property market in east Manchester, England, remains uncertain because the completion of the M60 orbital motorway has been postponed until the end of 2000 at the earliest. Some observers claim that this road will function merely as an eastern bypass for Manchester, but commercial property agents believe that the region will experience a revival when the road is finally completed. It is estimated that between 202 ha and 283 ha of land has been purchased since plans for the road were announced.
