Let's make a strategic deal: 1996's top 10

Article Abstract:

Ten major industrial site selections in 1996 provide valuable information on strategic planning. The deals generated more than 10,000 jobs and $6.5 billion in capital investments. AK Steel's site for a new complex in Rockport, IN, was chosen based on the site's cheap power and labor costs, substantial water supply and strong bedrock foundation. American Iron Reduction's site in Convent, LA, was mainly influenced by the company's decision to manufacture the product using natural gas.
