EDAW scoops Manchester brief

Article Abstract:

A consortium headed by urban design consultancy EDAW has been selected to design the redevelopment of the centre of Manchester, England. There are plans to extend the city's prime shopping area northwards, integrating it with the cathedral and the Corn Exchange, and there will also be a new arcade and a new pedestrian street. London pushes for more hotels

Article Abstract:

Demand for hotel accommodation in London is set to rise strongly over the next few years. This has prompted London Tourist Board to link with business agent Christie and Co to seek out greenfield and brownfield land and buildings where hotels could be built. Moves will be made to attract international investors. The initiative will focus on the creation of mid-price hotels, rather than luxury accommodation.
