New wave attraction

Article Abstract:

The property market in the A13 corridor in south-east Essex, UK, is being boosted by the leisure industry, which is expanding rapidly in the seaside resort of Southend. Sanfield Properties is building a 10 million pounds sterling leisure and retail scheme there, to include an eight-screen multiplex cinema, shops and restaurants. Two leisure parks have also been proposed for Basildon, but they may not receive planning permission. However, Basildon remains a popular shopping centre, and both the council and private developers are investing to refurbish retail areas.

A 21st century book of hours

Article Abstract:

There is a lack of information in the UK property industry about market fundamentals, according to property developer and publisher Peter Freeman. He sold his share of Argent to Hermes for 11 million pounds sterling in 1997, and since then has been working on a hardback encyclopaedia of property. This book, entitled 'Freeman's Guide to the Property Industry,' is due to be published in Jan 2000. He believes that he will be able to use his 17 years of experience in the property industry to create a list of the best consultants.
