Re-engineering for efficiency

Article Abstract:

The UK property industry has the potential to be very profitable, but its expansion is being hampered by inefficient delivery processes, inappropriate planning procedures and a lack of focus on service standards and customers. Property companies fail to take advantage of opportunities to provide customers with added-value services such as the procurement of utilities and the delivery of corporate services. Attention must also be given to developing a partnership approach involving developers, architects, builders, occupiers and investors.

Expertly handled?

Article Abstract:

It is very unusual in the UK for a successful negligence action to be brought against an independent property expert. However, independent experts should be aware that their care and skill in exercising their professional duties may be called into question, and they must therefore avoid a false sense of security. Independent experts should follow RICS Guidance Notes for surveyors acting as arbitrators and independent experts, and should take legal advice if necessary.
