Real estate investing during difficult times

Article Abstract:

The present disorder in the US commercial real estate industry was caused by an overabundance of funds in the 1980s, much of which were not invested wisely. As a result, funds became scarce, forcing developers and money brokers to minimize their activities. This is a natural result of earlier excesses in capital and space, indicating that the market is headed back to equilibrium. Since there still are investors looking for opportunities in real estate, those who are knowledgeable about the US market can earn good returns, provided they follow a good asset management strategy.

Asbestos offers real estate tax reduction for building owners

Article Abstract:

The existence of asbestos in a building adversely affects the building's market value and income potential and therefore should have lower tax assessments. This was the decision of Justice Stanley Parness of the New York Supreme Court, a decision seen to have repercussions on New York City's tax base and real estate industry. Justice Parness cited the fact that asbestos made repairs more expensive and that tenants would be reluctant to live in buildings which contained asbestos.
