Senior housing: alternatives and implications

Article Abstract:

The selection of alternative sources of capital for senior housing should be based on the parameters, objectives and flexibility of the source of capital. The senior housing sector is divided into three categories: independent living facilities, congregate care and assisted living facility. The alternative sources of equity capital include credit companies, real estate investment companies, pension funds and commercial mortgage-backed securities market. These sources of capital will sustain the growth of the senior housing sector to accomodate the increasing senior population.
