Separation packages, golden parachutes, and other emotional issues

Article Abstract:

The changes that have transformed the real estate industry have forced real estate companies to deal with the emotional issue of executive remuneration, including separation packages and golden parachutes. Separation packages and golden parachutes are one way of separating the interests of senior executives from those of other executives, an important objective of sound management strategies. Publicly traded real estate firms also must deal with new accounting rules for stock-based remuneration.

Rental collection and property acquisition statistics are part of the business plan measurement that indicates an executive's performance. Comparing an executive's performance to other executives in the industry is also helpful. A combination of evaluation techniques is the best way to evaluate an executive.
