Article Abstract:

Demand for industrial space in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England, is very buoyant, with vacancies running at 3.5%. The market for office space remains active, with demand for office space on the outskirts of the city increasing whilst city centre offices have become less popular due to parking restrictions. The retail market is good, with rents of 180-185 pounds sterling per sq ft being achieved at the Queensgate Centre. Some leisure development is going ahead, with eight public houses opening in the city and a mixed use leisure and retail scheme due for completion in 1999.

A question of quality

Article Abstract:

A new 96 acre Science Park is planned to be built near the Norwich Research Park in Norwich, Norfolk, England. Despite the demand for new office buildings, in Norwich, there is limited speculative development going ahead. Some 560,000 sq ft of office space is vacant but the buildings are of a substandard quality. Some agents suggest the lower floors of unwanted offices may be renovated and made into restaurants. New offices, sized between 5,000-15,000 sq ft, may be constructed at the Broadlands Business Park which is a popular site for industrial businesses.
