Technology for the new millenium

Article Abstract:

The marriage of traditional industries and high-technology in a warm economic climate has made Canada a choice location for business expansion. Technology clusters abound in the country, which, at last count, had 12. These clusters are where information technology firms have located. To support the technology clusters, Canada has implemented an electronic commerce strategy. Areas where Canada is very competitive are in telecommunication products, medical devices, software, ocean technologies and pharmaceuticals.

A compelling tale

Article Abstract:

The presence of high-technology firms alongside traditional industries in an economy that is conducive to growth are some of the reasons why Canada is an ideal location for businesses. In addition, the nation boasts of a skilled workforce, low corporate taxes and competitive interest rates. The Canadian dollar's relative weakness against the US dollar is a plus for American firms planning to locate to Canada. Moreover, the nation's proximity to the US and its low location costs make Canada an attractive choice.

Canada: fertile ground for healthy businesses

Article Abstract:

Canada remains one of the most popular places for foreign investments. With its rich natural resources and highly-skilled labor force, the country continues to attract foreign investors to its shores. Many US-based firms are relocating or expanding their operations in Canada because the country's favorable investment climate. In recognition of the country's popularity among investors, the International Development Research Council is holding its World Congress in Toronto in May, 1995.
