Texas: big on business

Article Abstract:

Texas has clearly made an enduring commitment to create the most outstanding business climate possible. The state has always been highly sensitive to the factors that will enable it to attract and retain corporations and jobs. This is exemplified in its tax policy. The state, which claims to have no personal state income tax, has legislated several, different types of tax breaks for businesses and instituted a tax cut of $506 million in 1999. It will, by law, also become a deregulated state by 2002 and has instituted job training programs, bolstered further by public education funding.
