The I-85 corridor: America's booming business belt

Article Abstract:

The five states through which Interstate 85 cuts through have attracted almost 5,000 new and expanded manufacturing, distribution and office operations between 1990 and 1994. This achievement is due to the good business environment, air and ground transportation infrastructure, proximity to key industries and markets, low labor costs and free customized worker training offered by North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Virginia.
