Confidence building

Article Abstract:

The office market in the town of Crawley, UK, is strong at present, with the stock of available new offices having fallen to only 10,000 sq ft and the vacancy rate to 7.25%. However, the low level of availability has meant that the take-up rate has fallen, following several years in which it was very high. There have been mainly small deals in 1995, mostly in relation to older, refurbished buildings.

Planning for the good times

Article Abstract:

Around 7% of Croydon's office space is standing empty, with most of this being secondhand stock. More secondhand space could become available before the end of 1995, and now even relatively new space is being refurbished. The town is one of the largest commercial centres in the UK, but large landowners are still unwilling to undertake speculative developments.
