The message is beware

Article Abstract:

It is important to be aware of the security and legal issues associated with electronic mail. Sending an electronic mail message is not secure, and electronic mail may therefore not be appropriate for sending confidential information. In legal terms, an electronic mail message must not contain anything of a defamatory nature, and employers must also ensure that electronic mail is not used for harassment of any person or for producing or circulating abusive or obscene material. It is important to be aware that an employer will usually be vicariously liable for the conduct of its employees.

Dreaming of a life behind bars?

Article Abstract:

In Scotland the licensing of premises for the consumption and selling of liquor is granted by the licensing board which meets four times a year. Certificates and plans from the relevant bodies should be submitted by the owners who are usually companies. The board will listen to any objections from interested parties such as the police and supporting evidence from the applicants solicitor. In England the applicant, who can be a tenant, must take time to prepare evidence of suitability before the application is put to the licensing committee who meet between six and eight weeks.

Paying for equal rights

Article Abstract:

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995, the main provisions of which will come into effect on Dec 02, 1996, will have an impact on the UK property industry. Anyone who sells, lets or manages property will not be allowed to discriminate against disabled people unless this can be proved to be justified. The Act is particularly significant in that it applies to existing buildings as well as new ones and could lead to considerable changes in the way businesses are run.
