The seven best industries for foreign investors in Mexico

Article Abstract:

Mexico's rapid economic development has made foreign investors reexamine its viability as an investment option. Mexico's advantages include low wages, skilled workers, location, market accessibility and market growth. The North American Free-Trade Agreement further enhanced Mexico's attraction for foreign investors who see opportunities for attaining a global competitive edge. An analysis of Mexico's industries show that seven of them offer the most lucrative prospects and theseinclude the automotive industry, electronics and communications equipment and building materials.

Limitations on the Service's summons power examined in the context of foreign-owned corporations

Article Abstract:

The Nissei Sangyo case decision illustrates the limits on the IRS's summons authority and its power to demand document translations. IRC Section 6038A gives the IRS enforcement powers over domestic corporations that are 25% foreign owned. However, the court's application of a reasonableness requirement to the IRS's translation requests in Nissei Sangyo led to a ruling holding the IRS's summons demands were burdensome.
