Tunnel of love

Article Abstract:

The remodeling of the Roxboro shopping Centre, Limerick, Ireland, has revitalized the retail market in the town. Work has started on the bypass which should relieve traffic in the town centre, when it is finished in 2002. The office market in Cork, Ireland, is benefitting from the lack of space in Dublin. Some speculative office development has gone ahead. Two business parks have been built and a new 87-bedroomed hotel is planned for near the airport. The construction of the Lee tunnel, linking Dublin and Waterford Road, is likely to lead to more land development in the area.

Ready for take-off

Article Abstract:

Industrial development in Staines, England, is very limited. The retail market in the town will be assisted with the proposed pedestrianisation of the town centre and the granting of permission for the Two Rivers scheme. Demand for office space in Staines, England, is very buoyant, with some speculative building going ahead. Some agents suggest refurbishment of older buildings will also need to commence, in order to meet the demand. The rise in demand for office space is partly due to plans to increase links between Heathrow Airport and Staines.

Thames towns: market mania

Article Abstract:

Demand for office space and commercial developments has continued to rise in towns in the River Thames area of the UK, and 1997 saw a large increase which exceeded supply, leading to higher prices. The towns of Richmond and Kingston are both facing a shortage of commercial properties which may only be satisfied with increased out-of-town developments. Firms tend to look for smaller offices in town, while larger properties are favoured in out-of-town areas.
