Virginia: building the information technology state

Article Abstract:

Virginia's exemplary education system which has produced the state's pool of highly-skilled workers is proving to be a blessing for the state in terms of attracting corporate relocations in the high technology industry. Virginia's high-technology industry is dominated by the electronics and electronics equipment sector which accounts for some $3 bil worth of exports annually. The pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry is also staking its claim on the state, with some $277 mil in new capital investments poured in by the industries in the state for the last seven years.

New York is continuing to thrive after encountering three years of conservative fiscal practices, tight government regulations and an unhealthy business environment. Since Gov George Pataki took over, the state's business condition has enhanced, undergoing economic transformation and attracting jobs and investments worldwide. New York is currently looked upon by other nations in cutting taxes, decreasing workers compensation rates, eliminating bureaucratic red tape and developing quality private-sector jobs.

Indiana: industry's strategic Midwest location

Indiana's attraction to the manufacturing industry is extensive network of transport connection which facilitates the shipment of finished goods. Indiana is intersected by seven interstate highways and five railroad carrier network, has access to 654 airport facilities and a system of waterways which greatly eases transport. Indiana is particularly suited to the heavy industries, such as steel manufacture and automobile production.
