Waiting for the tram

Article Abstract:

Leeds, England, is becoming increasing popular as a retail, leisure and office centre resulting in traffic congestion particularly in the city centre. The centre of the Leeds has few car parks which has lead to calls to limit the number of private cars in the city centre. Some observers suggest that the guided bus system should be extended but it is felt that commuters would be reluctant to use public transport. Others are calling for the construction of the Supertram network but sufficient funding is not yet available.

Mapping the future

Article Abstract:

Maps are crucial documents in the property market, but paper maps create storage problems and are laborious to use. Commercial property agent Conrad Ritblat has solved the problem by using the Promap system, which runs on a standard Windows-based PC and gives users access to the Ordnance Survey's entire UK map collection. The system, which comprises 12 CDs, displays specific locations on the computer screen and allows data to be manipulated and printed if required.
