DOT frees developers from potential cost of extra traffic

Article Abstract:

The UK government has changed regulations relating to developers' liability for funding improvements to truck roads. Developers have until recently been obliged to fund improvements if studies for planning permission indicate that traffic flow will rise within 15 years of completion. Under the new regulations, developers will be liable only for the cost of access routes to trunk roads. Some observers believe that this will cut the cost of processing planning applications.
