Whirlpool: RE takes 'integrator' role

Whirlpool's Corporate Real Estate unit is an infrastructure integration leader, having won the 1999 Best Practices Award in Leadership from the International Development Research Council. The unit has devised a single life-cycle concept that integrates all traditional real estate functions and is melding is strategies with the company and its business units. Moreover, the unit's strategies are now being developed as part of a finance strategy.

Motown rebound reaps a 'threepeat'

Article Abstract:

Detroit, Michigan, has rebounded, ending up as Site Selection's No. 1 U.S. metro area for the third straight year with a total of 1,133 new and expanded facilities in 1999. The city had a total of 136 new manufacturing plants. In second place is Chicago, with a total of 646 new and expanded facilities. It also ranked second on the new manufacturing plants listing, with a total of 120 new plants.

Boeing's $900-million 7E7 plant nearing touchdown

Article Abstract:

Boeing has identified Washington as the place where it will have its 900-million dollar 7E7 Dreamliner plant, and the company is making all the possible efforts to make this project a success. The government officials in Washington have offered Boeing various incentives to start the plant there and have also offered phased in tax breaks, which would be very beneficial for the company.
