Soviet farm production in 1983 was the highest since 1978. Good weather was an important factor. Reforms have been implemented on the farms. Workers compete for the best jobs and wages are tied to productivity. A 'team contract' system has been introduced in which small groups of workers sign a contract with the farm management. Surplus profits are divided among the workers. Some officials oppose this system which will increase wage differentials. Many farm workers prefer wage security.

Different tests were conducted to measure the strength of the strap and rigorous shock-absorption tests were conducted to ensure protection for which various helmets were compared on the basis of price, weight, size range, vents, shock absorption, ventilation and adapting size. Helmets manufactured by companies like Canyon Cruz, Giro Encinal and Lazer Cannibal were found to be among the best buys.

Practicing architects Steven Izenour and Susan Nigra Snyder teach idiosyncratic architectural courses at Penn's Graduate School of Architecture. A course entitled "Learning from Sprawl" focuses on the study of American suburbanization by looking at the mixture of styles in South Jersey.
