Between cultural studies and cultural competence

Article Abstract:

Cultural diversity should be acknowledged in a way that enriches the teaching of French culture and civilization rather than diluting it. The current state of French studies is cause for some concerns, however. Issues include the practical evaluation of cultural competence, changes as a result of Internet use, the way French culture is conceptualized, and the place of France in the world in relation to multiculturalism and globalization.
