China's policy toward the Korean Peninsula

Article Abstract:

China exerts a significant influence in the Asian region's power games although it may not have the military strength of Japan and the US. China maintains close ties with North Korea as part of its foreign policy strategies. The relations between China and Pyongyang stem from common ideologies, shared political cultures and historical ties between the leaders of the two countries. However, the realignment of international political structures has threatened this relationship. China should seek to establish multilateral ties with the world powers while promoting regional cooperation.

China and the Asia-Pacific; need for a grand strategy

Article Abstract:

China's influence in shaping the political order in the Asia-Pacific is perceived as a threat by other countries due to its undefined strategy for political, military and economic expansion. Although its recent entrance to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation is viewed as a positive move, the country is still learning from American and Japanese 'grand strategies.' The undefined and changing policies makes China a real threat and unless the government makes any moves, the uncertainty that its Asian neighbors feel will continue.

China's security perceptions: interests and ambitions

Article Abstract:

National security is still a major concern among Chinese leaders despite the appearance of a new world order. In order to maintain the existence of the Chinese communist regime, the country must undertake rapid economic development. Likewise, the country must be able to maintain diplomatic relations with their Asia-Pacific neighbors in order to lower regional tensions and promote a stable international environment.
