From praetorianism to democratic institutionalization: Argentina's difficult transition to civilian rule

Article Abstract:

Huntington's arguments about the role of the military in developing societies is discussed and Argentine military's shift from an intermittent to a sustained type of political intervention in public life is analyzed. Accordingly, some theoretical lessons of the Argentine experience are drawn from the analysis with military participation in politics.

Research note on India's draft nuclear doctrine: an overview

A document related to a draft on nuclear doctrine regarding the recent tension between India and Pakistan is reviewed. Pakistan's General Parvez Musharraf's visit to New Delhi provided a window of opportunity to bring India and Pakistan closer to settlement on the Kashmir, CTBT and other related issues.

Fire: A subaltern existence?

Gayatri Spivak is forced to evaluate the subjectivity by asking the question whether subaltern speak. She argues that the subaltern Hindu woman does not have the agency to speak for herself and is always 'spoken for' by different groups.
