Ideas for using an electronic classroom in intermediate French

Article Abstract:

The author examines French websites designed for matchmaking through personal ads and the official site for the Cannes Film Festival. Her students using these sites to study French are exposed to authentic material, extending beyond traditional classroom considerations to speculate on profession, nationality, personality, and appearance of people who visit and respond to such sites.

Sound pedagogical practice on the Web

Article Abstract:

The World Wide Web's interactive environment requires special considerations beyond traditions of sound pedagogical practice when considering the creation of second language sites. The article describes a working model demonstrating these steps and applies them to Web pages used by elementary and intermediate French courses.

Considering students' needs and interests in curriculum construction

Article Abstract:

The perceived needs and interests of high school students studying French have been examined in a study based on the concept of curricular responsiveness. Questionnaires were completed by 432 Indiana high school students enrolled in first- through fifth-year French classes.
