Prospect for U.S.-Japan security cooperation

Article Abstract:

Several factors will determine whether the US and Japan can maintain their close relations with each other in the years ahead. These include the North Korean issue, trade friction between the two countries, an expansion in Japan's regional and international role and multilateral security cooperation. Continued cooperation between the US and Japan in the economic, political and security spheres is needed to help maintain progress in Asia.
